Promenade autour de Campo de' Fiori

The small and lovely square of Largo dei Librari and the little Baroque style church of Santa Barbara dei Librai (Saint Barbara), located near Campo de Fiori, in the historic heart of the Eternal City. Perhaps built since Roman times by a noblewoman of Christian faith above the ruins of the Theater of Pompey, this delightful little church was officially founded in 1306. The statue on the facade, above, depicting Saint Barbara, is the work of the Baroque artist Ambrogio Parisi. The Campo de Fiori area is much loved and visited by tourists and residents for the presence of ancient churches and noble palaces and for the countless artistic and cultural treasures in Renaissance and Baroque style. Around Campo de Fiori, in the ancient Parione and Regola districts, it is possible to explore dozens of characteristic alleys, where you can discover the essence and soul of Roman life.
